Iconic Style

Hello Everyone!
I am Hemline KC's new intern Lauren, and I will be guest blogging for Annie today. Just a brief introduction; I am from Savannah, Georgia where I graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design & Textile Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I love anything and everything related to fashion, clothing, accessories and I am so excited to be involved with Hemline. It has only been about 6 weeks but I have already learned so much.
Today I am going to focus on iconic style. We are surrounded by visual images, and so much of what we aspire for ourselves comes from these visual representations of style, class and glamor. Everyone's idea of style is different, but by examining icons of the past, we can sometimes predict the styles of the future.
Here are a few of my favorite style icons. Enjoy, and tell us who some of your favorite style icons are and why.

If there's one thing we can learn from these lovely fashionista's, it is: never be afraid to try new things, think outside the box, or go against the norm. The best new ideas and trends come from breaking all the 'rules' and making up your own.

From Day to Night

Today we want to showcase a few of our new pieces that can be worn from day to night! And while we're at it, we'll throw some options in to transition into Fall!

These shorts by Karlie are so versatile - pair them with this cute Free People sweater for the day time, and with tights as the weather starts getting cooler, and shed the jacket (and tights!) and throw on these killer Chinese Laundry heels for a hot night time look. Dress it up or down with jewelry!

This romper by BCBGeneration is 1)So comfortable 2) So versatile! Wear it with this amazing Free People shawl during the day to the office our out shopping. Swap out the TOMS wedges for these hot little Messeca's and a flashy belt for a night on the town. Did we mention how comfy it is?

This top is one we are all obsessing over. Boyod is a new line for Hemline - and we are smitten! We also have this little top in a gold color and a beautiful champagne colored beaded dress. Amazing! Pair it with a wide leg trouser, platforms and a sweater for the day time. Swap out the shoes for these Chinese Laundry sexy peep toes, ditch the sweater and add a fun necklace and animal print clutch and you're ready to go out! Wear this top (or the dress from this line) all the way through Christmas for all the parties you will be attending.

I See London, I See France...

And woah, baby! Do you see these underpants?!

We all have our favorite lingerie pieces, from the best no-show panties, to the pretty little bralette that's meant to show. We gathered a few pieces here to show you what we are loving in the lingerie world right now.

1. Nippies - Patch of Freedom

These nipple concealers are fun and functional. They are perfect this summer with sweet little dresses and tank tops, and later with cocktail dresses for those Christmas parties you'll be attending. They come in fun colors and prints and neutral colors with lace and satin. 

2. Hanky Panky Panties

A Hemline favorite! These panties are super comfy, and come in this cute little roll up packaging. They come in just about any color you can think of, and lots of styles, from high waisted to itty-bitty thongs. Our favorite is the signature lace low rise thong. It doesn't ride up, bunch up, or pinch around your waist. And it's so pretty!

3. Armor Wrap Teddy by Kiki de Montparnasse

We love how simply sexy this little nighty is. It's made from 100% silk, so it feels amazing against your skin, and the semi sheer white fabric is so sweet and sexy in one! 

4. Hanky Panky Bralette

This bralette is one that can be worn as a bra on any normal day, or you can layer it with tanks or dresses that show it off a little! We like the look right now of a sheer cream blouse with something lacy and pretty underneath, and we think this is the perfect bra for that. It comes in so many fun colors too!

5. Free People Crop Top

The "daisy chain bandeau crop top" by Free People is, in our opinion, a Summer necessity! It's also a perfect transitional piece for Fall, as we love the look of it under am open knit sweater. Wear it now with a baggy tank top or dress.

6. Nu Bra

This bra by Nu Bra has been a tried and true favorite for a few years at Hemline. It has an adhesive back and sticks right to your skin. It comes in sizes A through D, and can be placed further to the outside of your body and pulled together in the middle for extra cleavage! It's perfect for backless dresses and tanks. It really does stick, even in the hottest of days!

Fanny Packs! Do or Don't?

Oh the days of the fanny pack. I know what you're thinking - absolutely no way will I ever be caught in a fanny pack. 

Let me tell you though that these little babies have changed! And we more than welcome that change... They were on more than a few runways for Fall, from Marc Jacobs to Philip Lim. We gathered a few of our favorites, and want to know what you think! Fanny packs - a do? Or a don't?

Trunk Show!

The Kansas City location is having a trunk show! Leighanne Littrell, wife of Brian Littrell from the Backstreet Boys has a line of clothing and accessories called "Wylee". The Backstreet Boys are here in town this weekend for the NKOTBSB tour and Leighanne thinks Hemline is the place to show off her duds! 

Come in tomorrow, Saturday the 16th, and be the first to get some of her new pieces, and to meet the designer. We hope to see you there!

At Home Beauty Recipes!

Have you ever thought about how much money you've spent in your lifetime on products that claim to make you more beautiful? While some of them work, there are still more that don't. And through this trial and error, we are wasting money!

We came up with a few of our favorite at-home recipes for your body, from head to toe, all made out of things you probably already have in your kitchen!

Now go draw a warm bath, light a candle or two, pour a glass of wine and relax with one of these treatments. Heck, even if you don't see great results, you'll at least feel better from the process! Although we think you will like what you see :)
