Meet Miss Winny

Any time we get the opportunity to work with an amazing photographer, we are all over it. Our very favorite lady, Jenny Wheat, is our photography idol. And this time we got to work with an amazingly beautiful, Sudanese goddess as our model! Jenny couldn't wait to shoot her - and we couldn't wait to style her - so here is our impromptu photo shoot! Isn't she a beauty?
Oh and everything you see is available right now at Hemline!

Tribal Prints

We have so many obsessions this Summer, and if you are a regular to our blog, you understand! In particular, we are seeing a lot of different prints out there. Our favorite? Tribal. We love the boho feel of it, and that when it's printed on a silk dress, it's suddenly sexy! Here are a few of our tribal print pieces we have in stores right now. We hope you love them as much as we do!

Let's Talk Sunglasses

We talked about swimwear a few days ago. We didn't mention though, the best sunglasses to go with your new suit! This summer, it's all about the 1960's and 1970's. Just like the clothing, your sunglasses should be a throwback to the days of big, and some round, sunnies. So we skimmed through some top designers to see what they are putting on the faces of celebs everywhere - then found them by our favorite sunglass supplier, A.J. Morgan. You can buy all of these at Hemline for $15.00, or 2 for 25.00. It doesn't get much better than that!

The first set of sunnies we have here are in between round, oval, and a little bit square. We like the color block on the front of the frames, it gives a little personality to an otherwise "normal" looking pair of glasses.
Left: House of Harlow 1960 $125.00
Left: A.J. Morgan $15.00 (also available in black)

This next set are cat eye sunglasses. Think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. So classically cool!

Right: A.J. Morgan $15.00 (available in 4 colors)

And last, but certainly not least, we have round sunglasses. Think Jackie Kennedy. Try them in white for a super trendy look, or try them in a more subtle color if you're just starting with the look. We don't really need to say any more about these - they're just that cool.

Hemline's are Looking Longer These Days!

And we aren't talking about our stores! The new hemline for Spring and Summer is a little more lengthy this year, and we absolutely love it! We know how many people loved the maxi dress a few years ago - us included - for it's comfort and effortlessly pretty lines. This year they are back in full force, but with a few new twists that we adore. The following dresses are all by one of our favorite lines, Free People!

Unlike the maxi dress from before, this new style doesn't quite skim the floor. Or even the ankles for that matter. The tea length dress is so ladylike. But Free People puts a spin on tea length that makes them just plain cool! Wear them with a chunky wedge, your favorite heel, or a pretty sandal. Heck you can even wear them with a combat boot! We particularly like the vintage look and feel of these three styles.

Obviously next we have the floor sweeping maxi - even if it's just in the back! While the tried and true original floor length maxi is still on our list of favorites this summer, we love the look of a short front and sweeping back. It allows you to show off your shoes of course!

Are you as excited about the look as we are? Best of all, we will be wearing this look into Fall with a pair of combat boots, or our favorite riding boots. Oh how we love it so!

Let's Talk Swimwear

Are you ready for it? Swimsuit season? Of course you are! We've mapped out a few of our favorite styles and patterns for Spring and Summer. Even if you aren't quite ready to jump in to your suit- these will make you want to get on it!

Our first love for swimwear trends is floral print. It's so pretty and feminine, and in a small print has such an amazing vintage quality to it. Try it in a one piece, a string bikini, whatever you like best! We like it here from Anthropologie with the high waist. It's just so pretty!

Next we have the minimalist. A minimalist suit can be worn by anyone and everyone. They can be sexy, sporty, one piece or two. Clean lines and spare details make this look oh so appealing!
This one piece from Anthropologie caught our eye immediately.

Finally we have tribal prints. It's a little boho, and very 70's inspired. It's our cup of tea! We like the simple lines of this string bikini by Missoni, but you can take the tribal print anywhere your little heart desires!

We hope we've inspired you to get out there and take a plunge - or lay poolside- that's alright too.

One Day Without Shoes

Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Go without shoes.

That's the word TOMS shoes is trying to spread. The mission behind the brand is "one for one" - meaning with every pair of shoes you purchase, a child i need also gets a pair. The thought of not having shoes is hard for most of us to fathom. But the problem is so real. On April 5, 2011, we TOMS is encouraging people everywhere to go without shoes to see what it might be like for children all over the world who don't have shoes period.

"Millions of children grow up without shoes and at risk of infection and disease. One day without shoes is the day we take off our shoes to raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child's life."- www.onedaywithoutshoes.com

So join us at Hemline Kansas City on April 5th for a little barefoot shopping. We will be without shoes for the day, and are inviting you to kick yours off along with us! Come shopping on Tuesday, April 5 and leave your shoes at the door and enter a drawing for a free pair of TOMS shoes! While this short time you will spend barefoot will be nothing compared to what children worldwide endure every day, it might give you a glimpse at the sadness they must feel. And if nothing else, we've reached our goal of spreading awareness! Hope to see you all there!

Also, please take a minute to watch this video about the one day without shoes campaign. It will make you think!
