Happy New Year's Eve!
Tonight's the night. The last night of 2010. Tomorrow we get to start all over with a clean slate. So let's live it up tonight! Today we chose this lace mini dress by MM Couture. We like the idea of showing off one body part at a time, and this dress is perfect for that! Keep your arms covered, but let your legs shine for days! And the amazingly tight bodice doesn't lack sex appeal either. Pair it with some sparkly earrings by Zad, a ring by Jessica Elliot, and the Sam Edleman Stud Heels, or go with the Chinese Laundry Chiffon Heel and Rhinestone Ring by Jessica Elliot for a little bit of a different look. Either way, you'll be looking fabulous as you ring in the new year! We hope you have a great time tonight. Be safe, and have a Happy New Year!

Outfit #4!
Here is outfit #4 for New Years Eve! We decided to go with a sweet, yet sexy purple strapless rosette dress by Cynthia Steffe. Wear it with black tights or bare legs - either way it will look great with the Seychelles criss cross suede heels! The bib necklace makes a big statement, but the dress can definitely stand on its own as well. And the ring by Kenze Panne is super cool. We like that it adds a little bit of "rock" with the sweet dress. Add the clutch for a bit more sparkle - because let's face it - a girl needs to sparkle at least a little bit when bringing in the New Year.

On the Third Day of New Years...
Here we go again! Today we thought we'd go in a different direction with the style. Yesterdays was fun and flirty, and we loved it! But today is more ladylike and vintage. And we love it too! That's what's great about Hemline. You can put together so many different types of outfits to suit whatever your feeling on any given day, from vintage to modern and beyond. Or you can mix them all up to make your own eclectic look! With todays look you will absolutely stand out in a crowd, but not in the traditional New Years glitter and sequin way. The hand muff by Tullette will not only keep your hands warm, but its functional as a clutch too, with a zipper on the back to hold a cell phone, credit card, lipstick and I.D! And I like how the cuff is a little bit "hard" with the softness and sweetness of the dress and accessories. Wear this look with a matte red lip and you will have heads turning!

Denim Care Guide
We sell a lot of designer denim at Hemline. Our customers are always asking for info on how to extend the life of their jeans and keep them looking as great as they did the first time they tried them on. And we don't blame them - we pay good money for our denim and expect them to last, right? We have a few of our own tips on what us Hemline girls do to take care of our denim, and we thought we would share them with you. So here they are:
1. The first tip most of us go by, is to wash your jeans as infrequently as possible. Now, I know sometimes it is down right impossible, and it definitely is easier said than done, but washing your jeans does lead to fading and shrinking. While you can't completely avoid those two things, you can try to reduce both by wearing your jeans at least 4-5 times before washing...within reason of course.
2. When you do wash your jeans, it is best to wash them inside out, in cold water, and with other denim. This will help reduce fading. Also, avoid the dryer as much as you can, as the dryer will make your jeans shrink and fade more rapidly. If you must dry your denim, do so on the lowest heat setting, and for a short time.
3. One thing we always recommend to our customers who are buying Hudson denim, (check them out on www.shophemline.com by the way, we have some really great styles right now!) is to go a size down if you can. We have found some styles from that line tend to stretch a lot! If you aren't able to go down a size, you can put them in the dryer. This will help get them back to the good fit you once had. Most jeans stretch out in some way, so this is nothing to be alarmed about. We find that we sometimes have to contradict our "no drying" rule in the event that we actually do want to slightly shrink our jeans. And that's okay!
4. Some people swear by putting their denim in the freezer in between washings, while others remain skeptical. The theory is that odor causing bacteria are killed in the freezer, and therefore letting your jeans hang out in the freezer over night will leave them odorless and fresh, all without going through the "harsh" process of washing and drying. The idea also being that it helps extend the life of your denim and prevent fading. This process isn't intended to completely replace washing your denim, (depending who you ask.) However, it is interesting none the less, and we are extremely interested in your thoughts about putting your jeans in the freezer. Have you done this before? Did your jeans come out refreshed? What are your theories on this subject? We're dyeing to know. (pun intended.)
So there you have it! Our tips for helping to keep your jeans fab for as long as possible. What tips do you have for keeping your jeans looking great? Feel free to let us know! We would love to hear from our wonderful blog readers! Also, come check out our amazing selection of designer denim at Hemline or at www.shophemline.com!

And the Winner is...
Wait no more! We have a winner in our contest for the most inspirational family Christmas Traditions! Before I tell you, I should also mention that we got some pretty awesome emails! It was so difficult for us to pick just one winner, that we have decided to have a second AND third place winner as well! So let's get to it!
The winner of a $100 Hemline gift card is: Ashley Campbell for her wonderful Gingerbread House tradition!
"When I was in 9th grade, my parents thought it would be fun to start making gingerbread houses on Christmas Eve....(examples include a homeless shelter, double-wide trailer, and even one year a synagogue...)"
"...As the years went by this tradition has expanded to include each of our significant others and/or best friends, and plenty of appetizers and holiday booze, prompting the creation of some even more unique gingerbread structures... Now that my brother is in culinary school, the drinks and appetizers we enjoy while we construct our houses have become even more amazing than before, and we now compete, as couples, for the best gingerbread house."
Our second place winner of a $75 Hemline gift card is: Whitney White for her tradition of finding the perfect Christmas tree for her family!
"...bow saw and flash light in hand, we begin our search for the perfect Christmas tree. It usually involves a bit of walking and a bit of compromising between husband and wife, since she wants the skinny soft one and he wants to climb up the evergreen and saw off the top. He won that one. So we pick a tree, saw it down, and carry it back to the car. It is always a charmingly unique tree, with a bit of a bare spot or a curve, but it makes the holiday more special, and it smells great too!
Wish us luck... The Great Xmas Tree Heist 2010 is tomorrow night!" And finally, our third place winner of a $50 Hemline gift card is: Gina Ciaccio-Holmberg for her beautiful tradition of passing a Christmas gift onto someone in need.
In regards to her children, "After they open their presents, they each have to choose one to give away to someone "in need". That could mean at a shelter, through our church, or someone that they choose.
We really want to focus on the giving aspect of Christmas, and not the gluttony."
Once again, thank you to all who participated in our contest! Because we couldn't make everyone a winner, everyone else who participated will receive 25% off one in store purchase of a regularly priced item as a thank you for participating! Just come in and give us your name to receive your discount! Kudos to our lovely blog readers for having such amazing family traditions, we had a blast reading your emails and wish you all a very happy Holiday season! Hope to see you all in the store soon!
